Our Story

Helping You Heal, Grow & Thrive

Mindward Centre for Psychological Wellbeing & Research was founded in 2017 by Mahika Sharma, Clinical Psychologist, with a simple intention—to normalise conversations around mental health, make psychological support more accessible, and understand human struggles through the lens of lived experiences rather than pathology alone.

Since its inception, Mindward has grown into a trauma-informed mental health practice that combines evidence-based psychological care with compassion, inclusivity, and a commitment to ethical practice.

Our Philosophy

At Mindward, we believe healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood.

Rather than asking “What’s wrong with you?”, we seek to understand “What has happened to you, and how has it shaped your experience?” We recognise that our emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing is influenced by our experiences, relationships, environments, and life circumstances.

This perspective allows us to support people with curiosity, compassion, and respect, while recognising each person’s strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth.

What Does Trauma-Informed Mean?

Being trauma-informed is about much more than working with people who have experienced trauma.

It means understanding that every person’s experiences can shape the way they think, feel, relate to others, and respond to the world around them. Whether those experiences are joyful, stressful, painful, or overwhelming, they all influence wellbeing.

A trauma-informed approach recognises these connections and seeks to create an environment that promotes:

  • Emotional and physical safety
  • Trust and transparency
  • Collaboration and shared decision-making
  • Choice and empowerment
  • Respect for every individual’s dignity, identity, and lived experience

These principles benefit everyone—not just those with a history of trauma.

Our Commitment to Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-informed care is not simply a service we offer—it is the foundation of how we practise.

Every therapist at Mindward is required to complete formal training in Trauma-Informed Care or receive specialised training in one or more trauma-focused therapeutic approaches. This shared foundation ensures that our clients receive care that is scientifically informed, compassionate, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the unique experiences they bring into therapy.

Our Vision

We envision a world where mental healthcare is accessible, ethical, trauma-informed, and rooted in human dignity.

Our mission

Our mission is to create spaces where people feel safe enough to understand themselves, supported enough to heal, and empowered enough to move towards meaningful and fulfilling lives.
